Finland closes its Embassy in Ljubljana, Slovenia's capital, on 31 August 2015. Henceforth Finnish representation in Slovenia will be covered from Budapest, the capital of its neighbouring country Hungary.
As a consequence of the embassy closing, an honorary consulate has been planned to ensure continued Finnish presence in Slovenia.
Customer service at the embassy in Ljubljana ceased already in June. The responsibility for customer service has also been transferred to the embassy in Budapest. Previously the Embassy in Ljubljana was also in charge of the Finnish representation in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as customer service offered there. Finland's Embassy in Zagreb, Croatia, subsequently answers for these responsibilities.
